April Gallery Artist: J.B. Lowe

New Works: Sculptures and Drawings

J.B. Lowe works as an illustrator and fine artist creating album artwork for recording artist Copee, wine labels for Periscope Cellars, and images for publications like the San Francisco Chronicle, Chronogram Magazine and RollingStone. In 2001, he co-founded Crackpot Illustration with six other individual artists with a common goal of harnessing collective inspiration to create insightful and imagery that demands attention.

Striving to bring thoughtful & innovative ideas to his work, this New Works show will focus on sculpture in the form of puppet-like characters that reflect a life of their own. Drawings will also be on display that show a map of where some of the puppets started in addition to the broader landscape of J.B.’s imagination.

Born and raised in the Bay Area he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with distinction from the California College of Arts and Crafts in 2000. Currently he resides in Oakland where Crackpot Illustration was formed.
