EMERYVILLE, CA —  In a world of erupting war and man-made turmoil, we ask ourselves what can we possibly do to make a difference. How can we be heard over the din of the oncoming storm?  Inspired to create art that asks questions in these hard economic times, HurLyBurLy Productions presents William Mastrosimone’s Cat’s-Paw, thanks to the outstanding response from their Carnival fundraiser, and will return to Emeryville’s own winery, Periscope Cellars.

In the heart of the nation’s capital, a suicide bomber claims the lives of 11 US Senators igniting a firestorm that threatens to bring the gears of the US Government to a halt.  Amidst the chaos, the urban guerilla regime claiming responsibility for the blast makes their next move.  Victor, their young and charismatic leader (Dara Yazdani) is hellbent on saving the planet’s ecosystem regardless of the cost, and offers ambitious news anchor Jessica Lyons (Mikka Bonel) the story of a lifetime. As Victor’s plan begins to unfold, Jessica encounters Victor’s dedicated protégé (Rana Weber) and the EPA hostage (Daniel Korth) whose kidnapping 5 weeks ago set the entire chain of events into motion. Neither Victor nor Jessica are fully prepared for the questions they both face once the camera is on.
