July Gallery Artist: Chris West

Christopher West was raised in California’s rural Humboldt County, attending Humboldt State and later earning an MFA from Mills College. His work has been exhibited nationally and is included in numerous public and private collections both nationally and internationally. Well known for his large scale paintings centering around memory and the landscape, West has recently begun working with cut paper. These “paper cuts” are lifted from a single sheet of paper and based on his interest in mark making and marginalia. West lives and work in Oakland.
