March Gallery Artist: Jessica Serran
Can’t I Just Surrender?
Jessica Serran is a multi-disciplinary artist, exhibiting a collection of drawing and painting that functions as a type of social mapping, where the viewer becomes part of an intimate inter-personal dialogue. Serran’s images are an accumulation of fragments — snippets of thought, images and experience that map internal terrain. At times funny and whimsical, her work is also demanding and accusative, revealing the confusion of self-discovery and the struggle to co-exist. Scribbled words, gestured lines, and dripping paint marks interact with drawn figures. The mapped territory is personal, yet captures the complexity and nuance of our collective search for self, identity and connection.
